End of an era: Complexity ceases operations after 23 years
In a video released today on X, Jason Lake has announced the sad news that Complexity has officially ceased operations after 23 years after the legendary organization was first created all the way back in 2003.

The news comes after Complexity pulled out of Counter-Strike 2 in August 2025, with Jason Lake citing financial challenges associated with hosting a tier-one CS2 team.
After exiting CS2 the organization continued in a reduced capacity, continuing to the NA Revival Series while also hosting a Halo Infinite team in the latter half of 2025.
With Lake and his team failing to raise the capital to buyout Complexity from GameSquare, the ownership of the organization has returned to the American holding company who are also the owners of FaZe.
With the FaZe brand being active in Counter-Strike 2 , it is unlikely we see COL return to the game in the medium term due to the potential conflict of interest between the two GameSquare subsidiaries.
Jason Lake took time to thank the dozens of employees and players who worked with Complexity over the past 23 years while also thanking the fans who have supported the brand over the past two decades.
While the team at times struggled to be a title contender, the beloved brand left a huge mark on the NA landscape that is hard to encapsulate as it served as a trailblazer for esports in the region.

FaZe Clan still has to answer for this: "The news comes after Complexity pulled out of Counter-Strike 2 in August 2025, with Jason Lake citing financial challenges associated with hosting a tier-one CS2 team." That is the soft spot on the card. Nothing else in these lines closes it.
