Liquid's campaign at the $100,000 1win Private Club #2 in Belgrade has started off in poor fashion as the team suffered a lopsided 2-0 loss to Fnatic earlier today.

Across the best-of-three against the Ukrainian squad, Liquid only managed eleven rounds amidst flat performances from the whole squad.

However, the momentum shifted heavily in Fnatic after their economy got up to speed, with the team winning seven out of the next eight rounds to claim a small 7-5 lead heading into the second half.

On their T-side, Fnatic further entrenched their lead with a T-side pistol round win of their own before taking four out of the next five rounds amidst a strong performance from Artem "cairne" Mushynskyi.

With Liquid down 6-12, they posted one more round before Fnatic locked down Ancient 13-7. Heading onto Cache, Fnatic won another T-side pistol round before winning four of the next five rounds on their map pick.

The rest of the half saw Liquid and Fnatic trade maps back and forth, going 3-3 to give Fnatic a significant 8-4 lead heading into overtime.

They were competitive on both maps, but again failed to win either as they lost 0-2, sending them home from the event in last place without any maps won.

IGL Johnny "JT" Theodosiou had a rough series as the team only won five T-rounds out of the 22 they played. He also struggled individually, ending the series with a 15/34 K/D, 44.6 ADR, and a 0.62 rating.

Liquid took control and put up a seven-round streak on their CT-side, putting magic down 3-9. After Liquid won the second pistol as well, magic slowly but surely started grinding back into the match.

The other three series all ended 2-0, with BIG emerging from the day as the biggest winner after an important win over The MongolZ .

A trophy lift at RLG Tesla Cup is Alliance 's only chance to salvage their hopes, but even that would leave them outside the invite bubble unless several other teams stumble.

Johnny "JT" Theodosiou 's side have precious little time to fix their mistakes with an opening match against MOUZ at PGL Masters Bucharest looming on October 24.

After switching sides, Fnatic quickly cleaned up the map as their third pistol round of the day led into a clean run of four rounds to take Cache 13-4.

Opinion

Fictional bylines. Each take uses a line above and adds no facts.

Team Liquid can stand on this line: "Across the best-of-three against the Ukrainian squad, Liquid only managed eleven rounds amidst flat performances from the whole squad." It is already on the card, so the case does not need a streak or a roster rumor.

The headline skips this: "The other three series all ended 2-0, with BIG emerging from the day as the biggest winner after an important win over The MongolZ ." That is the reading I would argue. The rest of the card does not cancel it.
