So either call your flash before throwing it so your teammate knows when to turn, or make the “pug-proof” ones which land behind objects and do not blind your team at all.
The latter are the best, as you can use them easily with random teammates.

Other ways to use HEs are to break smokes or simply use them as cover, because the particles coming from the explosion can easily mask your crossings for 1-2 seconds.
