The stakes were even higher for 1win 's opponents HOTU , as David "n0rb3r7" Danielyan and company could have guaranteed themselves a Major invite had they won the final.
It was a valiant attempt from HOTU , who brought Dust2 back from 4-8 down to 11-11 against the world number 14 only for the team to fumble against a B execute in round 23.
After a second-place finish, HOTU are third-favorites on the HLTV simulator to take the final European invitation. Attention now turns to 100 Thieves in Argentina, who can take advantage of HOTU 's defeat and take the slot if they win FiRe Last Chance.
The other team still in the running is fnatic , who are 18th in Europe as it stands but need 100 Thieves to fail and recalculation of opponent network to go their way.
Because HOTU beat Wildcard earlier this year, they will be rooting for the North Americans to win in Argentina, as recalculation makes their win more valuable. If BESTIA or BARCA win, fnatic are the likeliest invitee. Placements may change as other events conclude.
